Perhaps not in the right section as it's not really a question and therefore doesn't really need an answer... however I would love for the message to get to SCX, if it hasn't already, that they really need to improve on the quality control of their lighting systems. Case in point:
I have this fantastic looking Peugeot 908 ![]() Not even 50 laps of running and when looking at the front of the car the right LED stopped working. A more accurate description would be that it didn't work during normal operation but if I lifted the rears and gave it full power it would dimly light. I went to run the car tonight so I lifted the back, applied the power to let the motor start to warm up and from the louvers over the wheel with the failing LED I see smoke. Off came the body ![]() Hooking up the clips from my adjustable and portable pit power supply I gave the lighting system 6 volts. The three working LEDs lit but not a thing from the bad one. I gave it more power, 10 volts, nothing... then I gave it the max 13 volts it puts out and the LED lit and began to smoke. You can see the light wisp of smoke above against the black of the traction section under it. The longer I let it run the more it smoked, and stunk and touching the circuit board on the backside of the LED it was hot... hot enough to burn. ![]() Here you can see smoke pouring out from the headlight bucket, the circuit board now turning from green to brown. Needless to say a light that doesn't work is frustrating enough, especially when the car is still new but a smoking circuit that gets hot enough to burn you is quite a concern and is going to force me to bend up the connector tabs to completely kill all of the lights when running this car. I have owned multiple SCX cars with at least one light that stops functioning... this will be the first I've felt the need to stop all of the lights from working. Someone please ask the powers that be in Spain to look long and hard at the problems their lighting systems seem to have as in my opinion they have one of the most problem prone light systems and its a real shame.
