First I'd like to thank everyone involved in the series.

A big thanks goes to the entrants that tuned and sent away their beloved little cars. The hosts that took an a massive amount of work to gather drivers, prepare their tracks, run the marathon events, and great race reports with fantastic pictures, car feedback, video's and even live video coverage. The supporters of the series, SCX Spain/USA and their distributors in UK and AUS for providing ad material to hosts, allowing us to run under the SCX logo, price cars and support to hosts, and not to forget for making these fun little cars smile.gif

I'd like to personally thank Dave Kennedy of SCXWorldWide and Charles "Chuck" Ehredt of SCX USA for their support and postive attitude from my first approach to them with my "little idea" of a brand specific proxy series. I also want to mention Malcom Scotto and Gareth Jex of Wolverhampton Scalextric & Slot Car Club that took the UK event up to a full blown club weekend. The "crazy Dane" Lars Ole Riis for making fantastic video's. Gary Blayney for taking care of arranging the Australian events. John Schoen for keeping track of the scores in my absence, and Monte Saager/Craig Murray for introducing us to live video reporting. The bottom line is that you are all great guys.

It's been a long ride that started in February 2009 and lasted almost 1 1/2 year! We have had some up's and down during the series, but when looking back it's been a fantastic experience and very fun to see how the SCX cars have performed on a wide variety of tracks all over the world. We had some shipping problems (Canada - Australia by boat) that extended the series by several months and also contributed to the canceling of the last event. But despite all the work to pull the series off I feel the result is pretty awesome with 29 cars in 3 different classes competing through 3-6 stages at each event over 13 events in 9 different countries on 3 continents!

Before getting too sentimental, let's look at the final standings:

TOTAL SERIES POINTS
Highlightet score = class winner of the event
Highlighter score in red = overall winner of the event

FINAL STANDING IN EACH CLASS

Congratulations to the class winners!

I'm currently working on returning the last cars to their owners, getting an overview of the prices, looking over the financial situation of the series and considering how to organize a new season. I'll update this thread with new info over the next couple days.

If you have comments/thoughts about the completed series please feel free to share them with us here in this thread.

Regards
Tore Andre Fjeld
SCX CRP09 Organizer

I loved this series and will surely enter one or two cars when it is run again. There are some really nice looking candidates among the new releases, I haven't had the chance to drive them all yet but I think I will try my luck in class 1 or 2 with a Sunbeam Lotus, a Renault 8 or a Seat/Fiat 850. Decisions, decisions... wink.gif

A quick info on 2009 prizes

I have an overview of the prizes for the 2009 season. There will be one new SCX car for each of the top 3 finishers in each of the 3 classes, plus a few other prizes. All the entrants will also receive a "thank you card" with a list of all the events and a picture of their car, like in this example:

The prize cars will all be from the SCX Classics range, but the shipment from Barcelona won't arrive until next week, so I will wait until then before I reveal who won what etc...

Have fun
Tore

My car arrived today. Serious tyre wear, the rears have turned into slicks. Its possible successor arrived a couple of hours later, the planning and thinking for the next proxy has begun. cool.gif

Slicks aren't so bad if they are soft enough. Had they hardened up? Possibly - it was like a Pin Ball tongue.gif through the rally section on my track

It was the quickest on the race track section but didn't like the two "off camber" corners

It feels more like they dried out. The tread makes them feel softer than they really are; now that it has disappeared they definitely have a lot less grip than when they were new. smile.gif

Hi John

I tested the cars I sent home, and it was only a few of the cars that had bad tires. The majority still had good looking/feeling tires with good grip.

It seems like the heavy and/or powerful cars had most of the tire problems.

Hi guys,
First I would like to thank A LOT Tore for organising this huge internanational proxi.
It was the most incredible one I've seen so far, and lucky me, I was inside, and host of an event, what a chance !

I've received today the car back+ my extra Delta Integrale body, many thanks, you are a very serious fellow Tore.
I also received the money back for shipment, I was not really waiting for this but again, honest guy you are !

I just hope the whole Proxi did not cost you any money.

And of course, i'll enter a car, and try to host an event if possible, of the next one !

I am currently changing home, so my track is down, i hope it to be built again for the end of the year of the year.
It would be a mix of Polistil and Scalex Classic tracks.
It will be a faster track than the previous one, more long straights, less corners, more a GT track than a Rally one, but it will be great for a Proxi anyway !

Like John, i was astonished by the tires of my M1; not a trad left, pure slicks !
My rear tires were quite hard at the start of the race, i choose them hard deliberately, i knew i would loose traction but I hoped thy would keep their (low) grip during the whole race.

In an other point of view, considering the length of the Proxi, it's a chance they last so long. Some other brands surely would have not.

I'll go reading the topic for the next year, and like John, it's going to be hard to choose the car !

THANKS TORE AND ALL THE GUYS WHO MADE THIS PROXY A PLEASURE, SEE YOU SOON !

Won 2 cars and I don't have either one. Might race the Escort in the Oz Rally.

Thanks again Tore for all your efforts, we appreciate it. It does take up a lot of valuable time.

Congrats to Craig - another Oz prize. After a slow start and a good fight the cream has risen to the top (well almost)
2nd in Class-3: teamredracing (Australia) - Porsche 959
Prize: 64540 Lancia Delta HF Integrale

'09 all over

Bring on the '10

They were on their way to your place when I seen them last. They seem to like shaven or short haired men. I've tried but haven't seen then again yet! tongue.gif laugh.gif

Tore and the rest of the participants. Thank you all very much for a lot of hard work and a great racing series.

The biggest surprise might have been my Fiat 124. I guess minimum tweaking led to the durability necessary to finish strong.

I will be entering at least one car in this year´s event and look forward to it very much.

Chuck
