Hello,
My name is Sergio Pastor, the Managing Director of Tecnitoys (SCX). Just before the Nuremberg Toy Fair, I was talking with Dave Kennedy about the motors we should put in our cars, and Dave mentioned that the RX-42 motor is not fast enough - and many hobby enthusiasts want a faster motor. I told him, well if that is the case, then get 500 votes from šthoseš enthusiasts to put the RX-42B motor in our modern slot cars and the company will change the standard. Dave then created this thread - which has produced a great amount of discussion and demonstrated to our management team that you all really do want a faster motor as the standard in modern SCX racing cars. I have enjoyed monitoring this discussion over the past few months and your voices have been heard. Starting immediately, Tecnitoys will put the RX-42B motor in modern GT, NASCAR, LMP, and DTM cars. On a case by case basis we will place the appropriate motor in F-1, Rally, and Classic cars to ensure they are competitive, but reflect the era during which they raced. Thank you very much for your active participation in this discussion and on SCXWorldWide in general. Your input helps us make decisions and we hope to continue gaining your confidence and trust. Regards, Sergio |

Hola Sergio! Thanks for joining and thanks for allowing the members and fans of SCX to help to decide what motor they wanted in their racing cars. I know it means a lot to the members here that you've joined and that you've posted this thread. As always it's a pleasure to talk with you.

Hi, Sergio, I appreciate you taking the time to post here! I especially appreciate the willingness to listen, and to follow through on the promise made to Dave. SCX is earning the respect of the hobbyist market with a series of great decisions. I also happen to think that adding Dave Kennedy was an excellent move for SCX. Dave and I have been aware of each other through the boards for over five years, and he's always shown a great understanding of the hobbyist market, in my opinion. I think he brings strong ideas to the table, and it's a credit to you and SCX that you're willing to make changes based on his input.
But he hasn't mentioned whether there's any good beer in Spain. You don't keep him so busy in Spain that there's no time for a beer, do you? |

We really appreciate that. This appears to be good news for those who are much more experienced than me in this hobby. I am just getting started with my small fleet of cars. A question for how this change will affect future availability. I currently have 6 of the old Nascar aero type cars that use the RX 42 motors. Will these motors continue to be available or will I have to replace them with a 42-B when it comes time to purchase a new motor? If I need to purchase the 42-B, will I also have to buy a different chip (V2) that is compatible with the 42-B motor or will the old chip be able to handle the bigger motor? Thanks. |

Dave, one thing you can count on is that there are tens of thousands of the older motors around. There are many guys on the boards who have piles of them -- all you have to do is ask.

Fantastic to have you post here, and we are all very proud to have successfully been able to rise to the challenge you laid down. As mentioned by others before me, it shows the commitment Tecnitoys has to their customers of listening and taking that feedback positively A big thank you from south of the equator in Australia -------------------- |

I'd like to add my appreciation, congratulations and respect for the whole SCX team right from the very top (as seen here) for doing what bwlincoln succinctly puts as "Ask, Listen and Act".
I've always thought that the SCX products have displayed a deeper understanding of the wide range of activities that is slot racing and this can only come from harnessing the enthusiasts both inside and outside the organization. Examples include: - the most comprehensive and well-executed digital system out-of-the-box - the most comprehensive and well-executed off-road system out-of-the-box - the most comprehensive and well executed customer support and informational videos - the most comprehensive and well-executed manufacturer-focused forum (i.e. here) Thanks again for all the decisions and actions that have led to the 'B' announcement. Absolutely awesome company!!!! |

This is a clear example of SCX's commitment to excellence - understanding their consumer's needs and delivering on it. Where SCX differs from other manufacturers is they actually listen to their consumer base. Thank you, Sergio. Thank you SCX. It's nice feeling our loyality is well placed.

I will like to add to this thread that digital system is able to support only 6 cars! Well I would like taht at list we need 6 different F1 teams, because when we race we have to repeat the model or team!! Now we have: Ferrari Mc Laren Williams Toyota Renault BMW Sauber We need and extra one maybe can be Red Bull racing!! Please I need it to complete my races with different teams! Best Regards! Please allow me to add that NASCAR races counter clockwise. It very much disturbs me to do my racing the wrong way. It disturbs my friends so much in fact that as of right now I am the only one who has an SCX digital system. To sell NASCAR you should have a product that resembles NASCAR. I believe a NASCAR counter clockwise pit lane is of the highest proirity.
"Go fast, turn left." That's what NASCAR is. Please allow the United States as well as NASCAR fans the world over to race NASCAR as it's meant to be raced. Thanks for the motors Ahab out............................. -------------------- |
